Microchipping

Estimates from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and the American Humane Association indicate that approximately 15 percent of pet owners will become separated from their pet, for a total of over 10 million annually. Many pets also go missing in the Columbia, and Hattiesburg, Mississippi areas; to give our clients the best opportunity to become reunited with their pet, Columbia Animal Hospital uses Avid microchips for permanent pet identification.

Microchips are the size of a grain of rice. They are inserted under the skin and between the shoulder blades of your pet. They are a permanent form of identification. Each microchip contains a code, which is unique to your pet. In the event your furry friend is lost, they can be taken to most veterinary clinics and animal shelters where they can be scanned to be identified as your pet.

The compassionate veterinarians at Columbia Animal Hospital recommend that all pets under their care utilize an Avid microchip for identification. Please call one of our team members at 601-736-3041, and schedule an appointment to have your pet microchipped today.
